Part of the The Mission:
- Plans for Wimauma include establishing a Founder’s Day to honor C.H. Davis, and recognizing the dedication of the Wimauma Post Office on October 24, 1902. The community could register as a Neighborhood Association to receive notices about land use, zoning hearings, and Citizen’s Board vacancies, while also growing local initiatives like the Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful anti-litter campaign and V.I.P.S. participation. Other ideas include joining the Hillsborough County Back Stage Pass Program, exploring Adopt-a-Road for 579 and/or Saffold Road, and adding seasonal banners along 674 for events like Veteran’s Day, Christmas, and Founder’s Day. Efforts could focus on regaining public use of the Civic Center for polling and meetings, petitioning to open 19th Ave. at West Lake Drive, and re-establishing Community Council meetings with local authorities and leaders. Additional goals involve seeking legislative recognition of Wimauma as an inactive municipality, advocating for residents impacted by new community plans, contributing to the naming of new schools, restoring the historic name of North Lake Street, supporting traffic calming measures, gauging interest in a small business baseball/softball league, and registering the historic 1926 Wimauma Elementary School as a recognized historical site.

Tiger Lake - Lake Wimauma
Historical records indicate Tiger Lake was officially renamed Lake Wimauma with the 1914 expansion. It took a while to catch on, it was still being referred to as Tiger Lake as late as 1956.
